While Treds tried the diplomatic approach, Bad Boy had his own way of doing things: He picked the biggest, meanest-looking Malignus in the room and taunted him into a brawl. Making brief contact with Commander Cheetor at the scene, they followed Bug Bite's trail from the murder to The Blue Deployer, and then to the Malignus Revolutionary Army. Shortly into their search, the two faux Decepticons came across a murder scene, and Bug Bite's distinctive GoBot hand blaster seemed to be the murder weapon. Fearing what he might do if left unchecked, Path Finder sent Bad Boy and Treds to search for the missing Renegade. Soon after being put into processing, Bug Bite disappeared. Withered Hopeīad Boy, along with other displaced GoBots, underwent extensive processing before being released into Axiom Nexus proper. The Technomorphs feared that the Gobotronians' non-transwarp-based transit technology could be used against them, and the risk of letting the Guardians and Renegades back into the universe was too great. After hearing of their troubles, though, the TransTechs decided to hold the GoBots indefinitely in Axiom Nexus.

The TransTechs redirected the GoBots' travel to their own Cybertron, at the dimensional hub known as Axiom Nexus. Their transport stream got caught up in a second dimensional transit, alerting the Transcendent Technomorphs of a different dimension to their passage. Their mission, however, was interrupted before it even began. Bad Boy and his Renegade companion Bug Bite were to infiltrate the Decepticons along with their Guardian liaison, Treds. Using a Dimensional Interfacer, the GoBots planned to send representatives from each group to infiltrate the Autobot and Decepticon factions of Transformers, exploring that universe for a possible resolution for the Cataclysm and their plight.

Faced with the Cataclysm, a threat to all life in their universe, a group of cybernetic lifeforms called Guardians and Renegades located the probable source of their troubles: a dimensional stream from the 22nd level, involving robot lifeforms called Transformers.
